Astley regained a place on the tour by coming through Q School in 2016. He beat Peter Lines 4-0 in the final round of event two.
He earned the Rookie of the year award after some impressive performances during his debut season on the main tour in 2013/14.
He reached the last 64 of three full ranking events and the last 32 of two European Tour events. He narrowly beat Ken Doherty 6-5 in the 2014 UK Championships in the best result of his career.
However, he dropped off the tour at the end of the 2014/15 season.
Astley starred in a theatre play called The Nap which ran for three weeks at the Crucible theatre in Sheffield. He played the role of a snooker player in a comedy drama which also counted Jack O’Connell and Ralf Little among the cast. To read more about that click here.
