Couch recorded two notable highlights during the 2010/11 season: qualifying for a venue of a BBC event and reaching the final of a Players Tour Championship event.

In the 12BET.com World Open, he knocked out Ian McCulloch and Paul Davies to reach the last 32 in Glasgow, before losing to Martin Gould.

And Couch showed his undoubted quality at EPTC2 in Belgium, beating the likes of Ricky Walden and Fergal O'Brien to reach the final. He was denied the title by Shaun Murphy, the scoreline 4-2.

Couch came within one win of the Crucible in 2009. Wins over Michael Georgiou, Andrew Norman and 1991 Champion John Parrott left the Scunthorpe cueman one match away from Sheffield. In the last 48 he faced Joe Swail and lost 10-1.

In 2007 Couch won the Paul Hunter English Open in Leeds with a surprise victory over Neil Robertson, 6-5 in the final.

Couch was a UK Championship quarter-finalist in 1998.
