Holt’s best result of the 2015/16 season was a superb 10-6 victory over Neil Robertson at the Crucible. He qualified thanks to wins over Michael Wild, Peter Lines and Mark King at Ponds Forge. The ‘Hitman’ bowed out at the last 16 stage after a 13-8 loss against good friend Mark Williams.
He also scored a great 4-3 win over five-time world champion Ronnie O’Sullivan at the World Grand Prix, where he progressed to the last 16 before losing out 4-2 to Liang Wenbo.
Holt made the semi-finals of a ranking event for the first time at the 2013 Shanghai Masters, beating the likes of Judd Trump and Martin Gould, before being denied a place in the final by Xiao Guodong.
He went on to reach the final of Asian Tour event two before losing to Ju Reti 4-1.
The Nottingham potter thrived in the Players Tour Championship events winning two. His first came at PTC10 in 2011 where he beat the likes of Jamie Cope and John Higgins, before seeing off Dominic Dale 4-2 in the final.
Holt’s first professional title came at PTC6 in 2010, where he came from 3-2 down in the final to beat John Higgins 4-3.
The charismatic Nottingham Forest fan is a friend of the boxer Carl Froch, who often attends his matches. Holt also enjoys cooking and keeping fit.
