Prodigy Lyu, who is considered to have the potential to follow in the footsteps of China's Ding Junhui and win major titles, played his debut season on the main tour in 2013/14 and showed signs of a bright future.

Lyu enjoyed a consistent 2017/18 season and emphasised his potential by reaching the semi-final stage of a ranking event for the first time at the Northern Ireland Open in Belfast.

He further enhanced his growing reputation by successfully negotiating three rounds of qualifying to reach the Crucible stage of the Betfred World Championship.

Lyu regained his place on the tour by beating Pankaj Advani 6-3 to win the 2017 Asian Championship final.

The Chinese cueman previously played on the tour from 2013 to 2015.

In 2012, at the age of 14, he became the youngest ever winner of the World Under-21 Championship,  beating Zhu Yinghui 9-6 in the final.

Lyu competed as a wild card at the International Championship in Chengdu in 2012 and beat Dominic Dale and Michael White to reach the quarter-finals before losing to Neil Robertson.
