Pagett's best run in a full ranking event during the 2013/14 season took him to the last 32 of the Welsh Open. He won two matches in Newport before losing to Stephen Maguire. He also scored a notable 5-3 victory over Mark Selby in the Wuxi Classic before losing in the last 64.
Pagett, a regular practice partner of Mark Williams, earned a place on the main tour for 2013/14 thanks to his performances in the PTC events the previous season.
His best run came in European Tour event three in Antwerp as he beat the likes of Stuart Bingham and Neil Robertson to reach the semi-finals, before losing to eventual champion Mark Allen.
Eight years after turning professional, Pagett achieved one of his biggest dreams in snooker by qualifying for the Crucible in 2011.
After beating Zhang Anda, Bjorn Haneveer and Nigel Bond, he faced Andrew Higginson in the final qualifying round and won 10-6 to book his place on snooker's biggest stage.
"The Crucible is where everyone aims to get to in their career," said Pagett. "I have won every Welsh tournament as an amateur but feel I have under-achieved."
The Welshman gave a good account of himself at Sheffield and ran Jamie Cope close in the first round before losing 10-7.
He is a former World Amateur quarter-finalist and European Championship runner-up.
