Baird enjoyed the best moment of his career so far at the 2016 World Championship. Making his second Crucible appearance, he scored a great win over Michael White in the last 32 and pushed eventual Champion Mark Selby, before going out 13-11 in the last 16.
The player nicknamed the blade also slashed his way through the field to reach the semi-final of the Bulgarian Open, beating Judd Trump 4-1 in the quarter-final, but bowing out against Ryan Day.
Baird made his first Crucible appearance in 2013, seeing off Chen Zhe, Peter Lines, Rory Mcleod and Joe Perry to make it to the tournament stage. His Sheffield experience was short lived, going down to Stuart Bingham 10-2.
He was relegated from the main tour at the end of the 2011/12 season. However, he bounced straight back on to the circuit by coming through Q School, remarkably winning all five matches 4-0 without conceding a frame.
